Coffee Time: It's almost 1:00PM and I still am sleepy. Wha' happened? Nothing out a' the ordinary. Goin'ta go home soon and brew some fresh coffee, Starbucks or Peet's. The latter really is better coffee. You can tell the difference. It arrives two days after roasting, very fresh. I really like good coffee. We buy whole beans and grind them before each pot. We're not really snooty people but both Deb and I totally enjoy having good coffee together, it's one of our guilty pleasures. And God forbid that i should make a pot of weak coffee. Deb will have my hide, and not too much creamer (fat free half&half) either or she'll pummell my ass. In the heirarchy of job seperation, making coffee is mine. I use to forget to put the pot back in the coffeemaker after I started it up, thus resulting in a flood of hot coffee and grounds spilling out of the top ot the filter cone. I finally got the hang of it and now I'm the official coffee guy. I use to sweat a lot when drinking coffee, but now that I realized that stress was causing me to sweat, I don't have that problem as much.

Growning my full beard out and the stubble on my face feels strange...a three day growth. Will look ok in a two or three weeks. Goin'ta come out greyish, that's ok, I'll just color it.

Read lots of other people's blogs today, many were angry and hurting teenagers. I'm so sorry they have to go through all that pain in the teen years. I didn't have it all that rough. Either that or I handled it pretty well. There's a way to hate and argue with your father because you believe he's a racist and yet at the same time love him because he's your father and will do anything for you. Some kids and parents can't get through that. Dad and I did.
Then there was the mother who has a blog on sex for teens. She had just started it, but was off to an excellent start. Sorry, I forgot the url. Maybe she'll visit and leave it for me.
Till Monday, then. Good luck as you stare at life's blank pages, trying to come up with a good story!

Wearing: Same jeans as yesterday, pink cotton polo.

Remembering: The sound of the Taylor on my recording last night.

Growing: My full beard back.

Roo said she had bought some "Crisps and Fags" at the store. I'm not sure what crisps are...maybe potato chips? Fags I know, but not crisps. Bullocks!
I need to eat some protein...nothing but carbs over the last several days. Woke up having sex dreams about my ex wife Karen. Can't imagine why, she was a real tyrant. Had 9 full hours sleep last night, feel like I'm drugged now, still sleepy, headache, sweaty (no AC in this damn library).

Gee-Taw: Tested the Taylor with a small condenser mike last night. As long as I back off of it, the sound is deep with no distortion. Hard not to drive this beast full out though. It really wants out of it's cage. I can do that with just my fingers, no picks, and the results are amazing. Stepped up with medium guage strings instead of the light guage that were on it when I bought it. Immediate difference in the treble, clear and sparkley. No snap, even higher up.

The Library calls.

Here's my Friday Five:
Last TV Show watched: The Today Show, this AM
Last thing I complained about, to Azar who runs the illegal gambling scam at my local convenience store: Not having my own private stash of money.
Last person I complimented: My wife, of course. Told her her hair looked good (after she colored and curled it).
Last thing I threw away: An empty microwave popcorn box.
Last web site visited: Womanchild

Having Coffee, not sweating, no sweating at all this AM (unusual). Awoke feeling great, cuddled with my wife. I have several pissy debts to pay off in the next couple a' days. One for $220, one for $75, another for $37. Could'a easily taken care of all these on Tuesday, but chose to get the Taylor instead. I had Gee-Taw Fever.

Wearing: Jeans and a forrest green Tee.

Listening to: My good friends Pam and Don McMahon singing one of their songs

Wearing: Nice tan rayon knit polo shirt, a gift from my wife, Navy cotton slacks, black socks, black shoes, red face Guess watch, five-diamond swirl wedding band in gold.

Listening to: Maple Leaf Rag, original rag by Scott Joplin on piano, this version is by fingersyle guitarist Duck Baker. I can play a few bars of this tune myself, but not very fast.

Digesting: Big fish and chips lunch. I'm very sleepy.

Working on: A Major Project concerning Consolidation and centralization of Mission Critical Information files. We developed the File Strucure at a meeting this AM. I realized that I could grab the spotlight by doing what I do best and what regular people hate to do: Catagorization of documentary material. I'm so sleepy though, I have to close my eyes...just for a moment. ZZZzzzzzzzz

Womanchild had a link on her entry concerning terms for drug use. One of the terms mentioned was "Jefferson Airplane" which was supposed to be a burned out match split up the center, used to smoke a very small marijuana roach when you didn't have a roach clip at hand. We used to call this a "burning cross," maybe because we were from the South. I had not even thought about this in 25 years! The Onion has a great article which brought some long dead brain cells back to life for a few laughs

The Killer Guitar:
Put new strings on the Taylor and it bit me! Now there is blood on the strings. This guitar is viscious. Found out it was made in late 1988. I Wonder how many owners it has killed.

Was up at 4:00 AM, couldn't sleep, playing the Taylor. Working on a song with a good hook. It's a little like The Cars and "who's gonna drive you home." That kind of line but very different feel, almost spiritual. Will post it if it works out.

Wearing: Heavy cotton buttondown, Maize, red-grey-black patterned tie, grey polyester slacks, black brogans. Look good, Feel good!

Drinking: Third cup of java so far this morning (heart racing, light-headed).

Got to get some work done, See ya

Gee Taw Talk:

I have been saving my money and thought I had enough so off I went to the Guitar Store. They had the usual group of suspects, the factory seconds (Alverez), a section of new Larrivee's and a bunch of used D-28's. I passed up the Alverez group (thanks, but no thanks), and spent lots of time with the Larrivee's. They are a class guitar and within my price range. There were two there with electronics built in, beautiful guitars of bright rich mahogany back and sides, for $970. The 28's were gorgeous and will always be the standard by which all acoustics are judged but they wanted a bit more than I could afford. There was a Martin DM for $550 which was identical to the one I used to own. It played well and sounded exceptional for that price. I rounded the corner of the rack and there were two Taylors. One was a 414CE which had the same wood as my 410 only this one was a cutaway with electronics. I've never owned a cutaway and don't like the way they look. Plus the sound is a little bit shallow if it's unamped. Then I picked up the Taylor 510, dark grained mahogany back and sides, Engleman top. I plucked three strings and knew. I played an A-minor and the Taylor reached up and slapped the shit out of me! This is not a subtle guitar. This is a Demon guitar. This ax is as agressive as they come. I swear it will jump right up and rip your face off! Needless to say, I bought it!

Have been blogging for the past hour, nothing much out there, broken hearts, sleazy sluts, high school nare-do-wells. So let me tell you about the Date From Hell:

It was 11 years ago, I had met this girl at a party, great sense of humor, cute, lots of fun. I wanted to date her so I arranged a double date with a friend of a friend and her beau. It started at about 2:00 in the afternoon with lunch at this Italian place, stringy spaghetti. We had an uncomfortable lunch, the four of us, then decided to regroup at a bar, close by. Well, a half hour turned into an hour, then to two hours and the October sun was starting to ease below the windows, and still no other couple. Me and the chick, however were getting along famously, both talkin non-stop, drinking coffee (neither of us drank alcohol). Finally the other couple showed up, desheveled, telling some lie about getting lost or something. We agreed to go to a bar with a rooftop dining area. The sun was setting. When we arrived we realized we were the only white people there, which was not a problem for the girl and me but my friend's friend was a little ill at ease, making jokes that made me and my girl uncomfortable. Well my friend's friend started drinking Vodka Shooters. As the night rolled on she began making open flirtations with the waiter, who was 10 yrs her jr. and not interested at all. My date began to shiver in the cooling October night. The friend's friend was just getting warmed up as she gave the hapless waiter her number. Her date was drinking his own concoctions and going on and on about his ex-wife who was an amphetimine freak but he still loved her. When tears came to his eyes, he excused himself, went off and smoked a joint (we were sure of it) and came back a new man, ready to eat. Then the friend's friend began to ball and sob about some long lost Marine she still loved. At which time we decided it was time for the date to end. We carried the drunken miss to her date's car and poured her in. They roared off into the October, night totally spent. So were my date and I. I took her home, kissed her goodnight...twice. Throughout the evening she had conducted herself with perfect couthe and kept her sense of humor intact. She too felt like I was a stark contrast to what we had witnessed from our double date mates. We agreed to go out again, thus the perfect end to the Date From Hell. Of course, eleven years later, we're still married.

Wearing: Bright red tee and tan slacks...does that go well together? I guess so, kind of an odd combo, though. I look like a red Mercedes with tan leather interior!

Thinking Gee Taws: That the Taylor wasn't right for me after all. I never felt comfortable playing it like I did the Martin. The Taylor was a beautiful instrument, both to look at and to hear, I just always felt like it didn't belong to me. So now I'm definately looking for something, maybe like the old Martin DM. Only I'm saving up for this one, not buying on credit. So far I've saved up $380. Need a coupl'a hundred more to get a decent sound. Can't wait to record some more.

The Library is closing up nights and weekends for May then again part of August. Also cutting back nights from 6-10 to 6-9 all summer. Pay will suffer but it will be a break. They really could do with just one person at the Circ desk, especially in the summer.

Our Puppy is four months old and weighs 28 lbs. Will be 45 lbs by 9 months! A real moose. The vet says she's part Sharpei, part Retriever and part Terrier. She's a real sweetheart! I'll post a puppy picture soon.
