Draped upon that rockin' chair
Is the dress you always wear,
Sardynight, Two Step Jamboree.
You were finally alone
And I finally took you home
The first of a month of Saturdays.
Smokey shadows round your eyes
Tell of many lies
That you've told, and that's been told to you
But no matter what you've said
You're finally in my bed
And that's the place I hope you want to stay.
Having difficulty waking up this AM. I had my cup'a Starbucks but it's not making a dent in my foggy consciousness. Rain expected again here today...again. God Bless every drop! I love the rain, the big drops in Summer, the cooling mist in the fall and the icy drizzle of winter time. I don't even mind going out in it. Sometimes I take Sniff the big red dog out with me in the rain. She balks at first but then seems to say "Hey, what the heck. Tom's out here and he's OK." The only thing is that afterwards she smells like wet dog, which is not pleasant.

Working at the Library this Saturday morning, not much going on here now, but might pick up later. The last book I read...let's see...The Cold Six Thousand by James Ellroy. Real tough crime fiction linking Heroin, Cuba, the Kennedy Assasination, Howard Hughes, the Mormon Church, the Mob, J. Edgar Hoover, the KKK, and Vietman together in mid-sixties Las Vegas! Ellroy's stacatto style is like a machine gun with sentences and phrases firing at you without pronouns, articles, or other literary adornment. Also recommend LA Confidential(yeah, the movie too), White Jazz, and his early work, The Black Dahlia, with all three taking place in LA in the fifties, linked with the same cast of sleazy, corrupt characters. Currently reading, off and on, Patricia Cornwell's solving of the Jack the Ripper case. I'm just wondering what gave her the lead to follow this particular characer in the first place. She doesn't really say. But she sure builds a circumstancial case against him using modern forensic methods.
I saw and enjoyed the Richard Gere movie about his character being tried for murder in China (forgot the name). Have seen lots of episodes of Law and Order on TNT lately. I guess I've become a real couch potato. I also confess to enjoying old football game replays! Chances are I don't know who won and it's like watching it for real. Last night I saw the Southern Miss Golden Eagles crush Alabama's Crimson Tide from Sept. 2000. Lot's of fun!
Damn, Summer's half over! Soon we'll be wearing cotton sweaters, cords and flannels, sleeping with windows open, curled up under the covers. Deb and I will take a weekend trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway and enjoy the changing of the leaves against the backdrop of a deep blue sky. I'll leave you with that thought in mind. Happy Blogging!

I now have a problem with a touchy skin condition on the inside of my thighs, making walking difficult. My wife knows how to fix this with a simple surgical procedure. The same thing happened three years ago and she treated me in her Office. But this time she's going to do it at home! No, she's not a surgeon but she did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night!
Yesterday I worked with Adobe Photoshop. Although far from mastering it, I accomplished my goal (deleting a bad background stain on four documents). What fun! I think I'll scan some Pix and have at it. I will soon post some photos of my dog Sniff, the big red moose! She's six months and at 50 lbs makes quite an impression when she launches herself at you as you quietly recline on the sofa...OOOF! A life without kids and dogs is an empty life! Cats are cool in their own way but dogs...well, they're dogs!
