Working at the Library this morning. Actually 'work' is not the operative word. I'm here. If anyone needs my help, I'll be glad to show them how to use the online catalogue, how to look up articles on the net, how to find books, etc. But there's noone here today. Most finals are over, next Wednesday is the last day until Jan 12. I don't expect many students today. Which means I can blog all morning! Sad isn't it...the highlight of my day is to sit at this computer and be a peeping Tom into other peoples lives which are no more interesting than my own.

Of course, there's the 'Guitar Shop Tour', where I visit different guitar stores and play expensive instruments that I could never afford. Trouble is it's Christmas and guitars make up a sizeable number of Santa's toys to kids from 8 to 21. That means the stores are crowded with parents asking the the salesmen all kinds of questions about things like solid tops and nylon strings vs. steel strings and "Aren't her hands going to be too small to fit around the neck?" With this kind of feeding frenzy taking place there are: 1. Fewer used instruments for sale (those are the best deals), 2. The salesmen all know me and they know I'm probably not going to buy so I'm just taking up valuable space, 3. Some parent will notice me playing and start asking me questions, and I might tell them something opposite of what the salesmen has just said. So I'm not really welcome at my favorite haunts right now. But just wait till mid January when all the returns start coming in. There will be some great deals out there!

Let's wish all the Sagittarians a Happy Birthday. Life would be forever dull without them!

I'm having to move my office for the second time in two weeks! Now I have to move back to an office right around the corner from where I sat before the first move. Do you have any idea what's required to move a Records Manager? Let me give you a hint...I'm the staging area for boxes of files heading to off-site storage. Literally 100+ boxes, 1 cu.ft. in size, headed back to where they were three weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the Flu rages.

Mileposts stand between us like sad jesters, their bobble heads nodding and weaving, a chain of fools from my door to yours. They note the times and places we should have shared but didn't. That's why they're so sad.

Now a cold wind comes. It's passed harvest time, the moon is blood red. Dry stalks burn in the fields. Mothers cover babies' eyes. There is empty cackling heard in the halls. Black mists swirl about the mountain.

For years it's winter cold. Icelocked, our breath throws white fragmented plumes. We stare accross the wide chasm. Immobile, I am frozen in a mad rush toward you. You shreik at the frost which buffets you and tears at your gown. Your eyes so blue, I swear I see them crying from a thousand miles away, your face pale and white like the snow. We reach and reach, throwing the ache of our hearts against the howl.

From sheer force of will our spirits touch, high above the sky. At once we are whole. The wind quiets, warmth breaks through the clouds, a gentle rain bathes our faces. The clowns are smiling. We see rainbows shimmer in sunshine. The black earth yawns, stretches and squeezes green life from clinched fists. Bells ringing in the village, sheepmen say "Good Day" to the Smythe, the Cobbler, and the Cooper.

Alone in the tower, we intertwine, we can't hold back. Tears softly flow. Wrapped together we breathe each others perfume and laugh at our ackwardness. We kiss the only kiss that satisfies love. Then we sleep, dreaming tomorrow.

Well, the weekend was a bust! I didn't go anywhere like I wanted too, blew all my money like I didn't want to do. I let a number of issues cloud my vision and that led me in the direction opposite my good intentions. The trip to Nashville was hijacked and I ended up gambling away my stash at the convenience store on Friday. I had to scrounge the rest of the weekend. Will I ever learn?!!!

Saturday night was fun, switching between LSU/Georgia and KState/OU. Sunday night was also lots of fun, watching Michael Vick and the Falcons.

I started writing a song about me, Deb and Sniff, the big red dog. We all wake up together in the moriningl and our big red moose cow is such a goof we just have to laugh out loud! I need to post some pix of the big gu'loot. She's such a happy dog!

Here are snippits from two more tunes: Tulsa and Down in Puerto Rico. They are both from 1988.

If you want first hand reporting about the big snow in the NE, visit Caitlin's blog Miasma. She's a grad student at MIT. Miasma was the first blog I ever visited. She links all kinds of fun sites in her posts.

Tonight's moon was huge! Big and full and silver. I do know why certain full moons in the Autumn appear larger than usual when they first rise (Harvest Moon, Hunter's Moon, etc.). It has to do with refraction and the atmosphere at the horizon acting like a lens. I can't really explain it, but I do understand.
